annie leibovitz - look back to a magical campaign

As a lifelong fan of Annie Leibovitz's work and contribution in/to the art of photography, nothing has impressed me more than stumbling upon the gorgeous photo campaign she shot for Disney's "Year of a Million Dreams" back in 2007. With a couple more additions in recent years (the sultry new Zac and Vanessa shot), the Disney Dream Portrait Series continues to flourish and expand. Many celebs have jumped at the chance to participate... I wonder if Annie has any more masterpieces up her sleeve to add the the campaign? I guess we'll just have to patiently wait and see, but, in the meantime, lets indulge in the magnificence of the contributions thus far...
"Where imagination saves the day"
David Beckham as Prince Phillip from Sleeping Beauty
"Where the magic begins"
Julie Andrews as the Blue Fairy from Pinocchio and Abigail Breslin as Fira from Disney Fairies
"Where you never have to grow up"
Gisele Bunchen as Wendy, Tina Fey as Tinkerbell and Mikhail Baryshnikov as Peter Pan
"Where another world is just a wish away"

Julianne Moore as Ariel and Michael Phelps as a Merman from The Little Mermaid

"Where you're the fairest of them all"

Rachel Weisz as Snow White

"Where a whole new world awaits"

Jennifer Lopez as Jasmine and Marc Anthony as Aladdin

"Where every Cinderella story comes true"

Scarlet Johansson as Cinderella

"Where dreams run free"

Jessica Biel as Pocahontas

"Where your every wish is our command"

Whoopi Goldberg as the Genie from Aladdin

"Where romance is celebrated"

Zac Efron as Prince Phillip and Vanessa Hudgens as Sleeping Beauty

"Where wonderland is your destiny"

Beyonce as Alice, Lyle Lovett as the Crazy Hare and Oliver Pratt as the Madd Hatter from Alice in Wonderland

"Where you're always the king of the court"

Roger Federer as King Arthur from The Sword and the Stone

Which one is your favorite?

oscar night

I was rather emotional upon watching the Academy Awards this evening and was even brought to tears on a few occasions - could it be Heath's family's heartwarming acceptance speech? or maybe the fact that Kate finally won the acclaim she has so long deserved?
And congrats, Meryl on 15 nominations over the years. You go girl!
All in all, a great night.

Breakfast at Tiffany's

At the start of a new year, and thus a new beginning, simplicity in life is key. Lets start with the basics and learn from a woman who knew them well.
There are some pieces that are just about as timeless as Audrey herself . Through her example, she helped every woman discover the beauty to be found in understated elegance and the wardrobe items that exude it.
Here's my list of basics every woman needs to start off fresh in the New Year with Audrey-worthy glamour:
  1. a black cashmere turtleneck
  2. skinny black trouser pants
  3. black and white striped 3/4 length t-shirt
  4. khaki double-breasted, knee-length trench
  5. black shift dress with simple detailing
  6. a classic white cotton button-up blouse
  7. well-fitted blue jeans
  8. neutral coloured fitted button-up cardigan
  9. classic black pumps with shapely high heel
  10. black ballerina flats

Why not change your hairstyle while your at it?

Go for an Audrey-inspired pixie cut or bold bangs for something a little more subtle.

All the best for your new beginning!
